AI reputation terms

Key definitions for understanding how AI assistants evaluate, recommend, and represent businesses.

A

AI Reputation Score

A composite metric measuring how favorably AI assistants perceive and recommend a business. Claryfy calculates this across five dimensions: Mentioned, Preferred, Verified, Accurate, and Authoritative.

AI Visibility

The degree to which a business appears in AI-generated responses when potential customers ask relevant questions. Higher visibility means more frequent mentions and recommendations across platforms like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude.

AI Workshop

Claryfy's content generation tool that creates ready-to-use schema markup, FAQ sections, social media posts, and service-area page drafts — all tailored to your business and informed by your scan data.

C

Citation Consistency

The uniformity of a business's name, address, phone number (NAP), and other details across the online directories, review sites, and authority pages that AI platforms reference when generating recommendations.

Citation Source

A website, directory, or data source that AI platforms reference when deciding which businesses to recommend. Common citation sources include Google Business Profile, Yelp, industry directories, and authoritative review sites.

Claryfy Score

Claryfy's proprietary composite score measuring a business's overall AI reputation. It combines five weighted dimensions — Mentioned, Preferred, Verified, Accurate, and Authoritative — into a single 0-100 score that tracks improvement over time.

Content Authority

The quality and depth of a business's online content as evaluated by AI platforms. Businesses with comprehensive service pages, FAQs, case studies, and structured data tend to score higher in AI recommendations.

Content Gap

Information that AI platforms expect to find about a business but cannot locate. Content gaps — such as missing service descriptions, pricing details, or FAQ pages — reduce the likelihood of being recommended.

Credit

The unit of usage in Claryfy's billing system. Every scan, AI query, and content generation consumes credits from your monthly allowance. Plans include a set number of credits per month, with additional credit packs available for purchase.

E

Entity Consistency

How uniformly a business is represented across the web. When AI platforms find conflicting information about a business (different names, addresses, or descriptions), they are less likely to recommend it confidently.

K

Knowledge Fact

A specific claim or piece of information that an AI platform states about a business. Knowledge facts can be correct, incorrect, outdated, or missing — Claryfy surfaces all of these so businesses can address inaccuracies.

L

LLM (Large Language Model)

The AI technology powering assistants like ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and others. LLMs generate conversational responses based on training data and retrieval, making them the engines behind AI business recommendations.

M

Mention Frequency

How often a business is referenced in AI-generated responses for relevant queries. Higher mention frequency indicates stronger AI visibility and a greater likelihood of being recommended to potential customers.

P

Platform Intelligence

Platform-specific insights showing how each individual AI assistant (ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Grok, Perplexity) uniquely perceives a business. Different platforms may recommend different businesses for the same query.

Property

A location or website monitored by Claryfy. Properties can be physical locations (storefronts, service areas), e-commerce stores, SaaS products, or any online presence. Each property gets independent scores, recommendations, and scan history.

Q

Query Intelligence

The analysis of customer search patterns and intents across AI platforms. Claryfy classifies queries by intent type, tracks performance trends, and identifies high-value prompts that drive real customer decisions.

R

Recommendation Engine

Claryfy's system for generating prioritized, actionable recommendations based on scan results. Each recommendation includes specific steps, expected impact, and category tags, organized into Immediate, 30-Day, and 90-Day phases.

S

Schema Markup

Structured data added to a website's HTML that helps AI platforms understand the content. Common schema types for AI optimization include LocalBusiness, FAQ, Product, and Service — all of which Claryfy's AI Workshop can generate.

V

Verification Scan

A follow-up scan run after implementing a recommendation to confirm that AI platforms now respond differently. Verification scans close the feedback loop by measuring actual impact rather than relying on assumptions.

Visibility Audit

A comprehensive assessment across 13 categories evaluating whether a business is being mentioned, recommended, and accurately represented by AI platforms. Audits produce a mention matrix showing exactly where and how a business appears.
